Today, November 14, is World Diabetes Day. The initiative to establish this International Day was taken by the International Diabetes Federation with support from the World Health Organization (WHO). The aim of the Day is to raise global awareness for this disease as well as its prevention strategies.
On the occasion of today’s International Day, EU Commissioner for Health Stella Kyriakides, made the following statement:
“Today, more than 32 million people live with diabetes in the EU. That is one in ten adults from all walks of life. It is even more concerning that this figure has doubled in the last decade alone.”
